The majority of the music that I’ve found to be very compelling and influential to me was sought out and found during my late junior high and high school years. Obviously, age and other factors were responsible for this, but there is still much of that music today that carries the profound effects it did years ago.
Today’s song is “3 Libras” by A Perfect Circle. I remember hearing this song and seeing the video for the first time while I was in 7th grade on MTV2 and I was completely blown away by what I heard. The band’s music had an undisputed influence on me and I felt completely enamored.
Soon enough, the song started receiving heavy air play on one of the local radio stations. I remember tuning in on my way to and from catechism with the hopes of hearing it on the radio (most of the time, I did). I eventually got around to buying the album, Mer de Noms, and it is one of the albums that is still heavy in my play rotation.
One of my fears was the idea that I’d never get to see them live, but after a 5ish year hiatus, I finally got to see them at Lollapalooza this past summer. Definitely one of the top concerts I’ve been to along with Muse, Depeche Mode, and the Pixies.
Enjoy the song, and if this song or any of their others don’t have some sort of connection or heightened emotions to you, well… I really don’t know what to say. 😉
